Today we celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut Independence Day (Hebrew: יום העצמאות), commemorating the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948. It was a great day for all Maapilim in the detention camps in Cyprus.

 Many of the "Swedish Maapilim", most of them brought to Sweden in 1945 from the concentration camps were free to go home, read Eretz Israel.
