Female and underage inmates, called "children" of Israeli prisons were not just throwing the stones.

The wounded Israeli was a civilian security guard in his 20s, who was posted to the city’s main entrance road. The attacker was identified as a Palestinian woman from Bethlehem, 22-year-old Halawa Alian (2015).

The released female and underage inmates were all convicted of terror-related offenses. Released prisoners include Israa Jaabis, 38, who was convicted of detonating a gas cylinder in her car at a West Bank checkpoint in 2015, wounding a police officer, and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

It also includes individuals like Shorouq Dwayyat, who was arrested in 2015 and is serving the ninth year of her 16-year sentence. Dwayyat was 18 when she was arrested for stabbing an Israeli with a knife. Her father said: “Shorouq is delicate and cannot harm an animal”.

Why were they imprisoned? Israel’s list includes:
  • carrying and manufacturing knives and daggers
  • threatening security
  • illegally entering Israel without a permit
  • throwing stones
  • supporting terrorism
  • associating with hostile/unknown organizations.
