Numerous researchers with high university titles in pedagogy use to write that Korczak was choosing the children and therefore he got such results at his Orphanage. Several younger researchers are just repeating what the old ones (with titles) wrote.
As I am trained in the biology and medicine, thus including etiology and courses in pedagogy I build my opinion on some not published or discussed pictures from the Korczak's Orphanage and its pictures from the summer camp Rózyczka.
The pictures above show Leiche, a mentally retarded girl and a boy with an amputated leg. Besides the mental and physical handicap, the Jewish children came from very different homes where also mother tongue varied.
Of course, Korczak was trying to have as the uniform group as possible but it was a question of limited finances and therefore also very limited number of staff working at the Orphanage.
