Two of the most important places of memory of Jewish heritage in Warsaw are: the monument of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and Korczaks Orphanage at Krochmalna Street

Warsaw guides were asked some years ago what places Jewish tourists wanted to see in Warsaw. That was before the prepared algorithms were fighting on the internet to show one certain museum or spot. Two of the most important places of memory of Jewish heritage were the monument of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and Korczaks Orphanage at Krochmalna Street, now Jaktorowska. This is what the tourist wanted to see.

Korczaks Orphanage at Krochmalna Street was a place that pedagogues, directors of orphanages, and students wanted to see before WWII. To see and of course to meet Janusz Korczak - Henryk Godlszmit.

After WWII numerous former pupils and teachers that survived the Holocaust used to come to Warsaw just to see the building, part of their childhood and youth.

As the entire building was demolished during the war actually it is the building from the outside that is worth seeing.

From the former times in the interior of the building, there is only the former recreation hall - dining room that has some of the former habitus. Outside it is only the rain cover at the front door, it's metal construction that survived the fire and was rescued.
