Korczak monument - World Wide Concept - The main Korczak symbol - A portrait of Korczak’s face Symbole Korczaka - zdjęcie z 1933 roku

At the heart of Korczak’s educational insights was the tenant that child welfare is fundamentally about individual relationships and people.

Nothing could be more symbolic of this than the portrait of a man. This particular portrait displays the deep compassion and concern for others, and children in particular, that Korczak practiced.

This particular photograph has also been the photo of choice for the survivors and those who knew Korczak first hand, used in Korczak society graphics and displayed in photographs in survivors homes. It is probably the most recognisable picture of Korczak for many people.

The history of the most known picture of Janusz Korczak.
The photographer making picture of Korczak, Edward Poznanski was explaining for the orphanage children what an latent image is. A latent image on photographic film is an invisible image produced by the exposure of the film to light. When the film is developed, the area that was exposed darkens and forms a visible image. In the early days of photography, the nature of the invisible change in the silver halide crystals of the film's emulsion coating was unknown, so the image was said to be "latent" until the film was treated with photographic developer. One of the kids was very, very curious how "latent Doctor Korczak" looks like and slightly opened the film holder and exposed a rim of sheet of previously exposed film to the sunlight.

Drugi chłopiec to Jakubek Dodiuk.
