Shraga Milstein - Day of Rebirth July 26, 1945.

Many of the Holocaust survivors were telling me that they have actually two days of birth. The first is the actual birthday and the second is the day of their arrival in Sweden after WWII. It´s a kind of rebirth after the nightmare of the Holocaust.

On July 26, 1945, a member of our group, a friend of mine, Feliks, Shraga Milstein arrived in Sweden from Bergen-Belsen. He was on the "Children Boat" - a White Boat, called S/S Kastelholm. Together with him were numerous children from the Piotrków Ghetto who were previously imprisoned in Ravensbrück, Buchenwald, and finally in Bergen-Belsen.

Yesterday, on July 26, He, Shraga Milstein passed away.

His funeral will be on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 18:30 at Kfar Shmarjahoo cemetery. The Shiva will take place at 2 Harakefet Street, Kfar Shmarjahoo. Visits between 10:00 - 13:00 and 17:00-21:00.

Milstein Feliks and his brother Marek are on the prisoners list of the arrivals to the concentration camp Buchenwald (left) and on the White Boat S/S Kastelholm to Sweden.

The photos in the upper row above are from Sweden (1945) and the Shragas home in Kfar Shmarjahoo, Israel (2024). The photo in the lower row is from Shraga's book. They will be again printed in the book about the children from Piotrków Ghetto.
